Therefore,
I tend to edit with extreme prejudice.
Well, guess who's been bound, gagged, and tossed into the basement?
Editor's
Cut will be my attempt to revise - and in some cases, restore -
some
of my stories to what I originally intended to say with them.
Accent
on some. Not every story is going to end up here; I
have
no intention to revise for revision's sake. The material I am likely to
choose will be the stories (or scripts) that gave me the most heartburn
or headaches.
These stories will not be wholly different - that'd be pointless, plus
a waste of my time and yours - but they will, for the most part,
contain
additional scenes and dialogue. This previously unseen material
may
have been initially rejected or trimmed down by me for one reason or
another,
but upon further reflection, I now believe it to be an integral part of
the
story. However, I will not be throwing all the cut material back into
the
pot - once again, pointless and a waste of time - only the pieces that
I
think improve and clarify the material.
Occasionally, a story might even be - gasp! - shorter
than before, because I realized that I somehow got past the damnable
inner censor and, then, managed to over-write. (Yes, it happens.
No, I don't know how.) In these cases, I'll cut back the
verbiage, but
only if it doesn't do damage to the heart of the story.
And most importantly, Editor's Cut will be UNCENSORED.
This is not to say it's going to be profanity-laden, or thick
with raunch or
prurience (see my Content Ratings page
as to why), but most, if not all, of the content within Editor's Cut
will be based on material that was already intended for mature
audiences. As a security measure, Editor's
Cut content will only be directly accessible from this page. Nonetheless, I'll provide a
detailed
content advisory, and re-rate the story,
if needed.
And if an R-rated story is re-rated NC-17 after revision,
I
will include an additional advisory page-slash-gateway page, with a
full
delineation of the content, and an explicit warning that the material
is
NOT for children.
Okay, enough of the boring disclaimers. Time to make my inner
censor
cry!
UNCENSORED BEAUMONT
IS HERE!!!
Two Years After, On a New Year's
Eve (REDUX) for
sexual content.
Beaumont sez: This is essentially
the same story posted on my Newest Pages
section, only with different lines here and there, plus the
re-integration of
a racy sequence I had initially cut.
For me, it's an interesting compare-and-contrast - what I did versus
what I thought I should have done.
See if you can figure out which version I
think is better.
